The Family NOW package is a 12 week course that focuses on how domestic abuse can affect the parenting, by supporting families to understand healthy relationships and provide support for improved ways of resolving conflict.
Who is for?
The Family NOW is a programme for families who have been exposed to domestic violence. It focuses on how domestic violence can affect families and relationships both within the family and the outside world. It will support and develop further understanding of the role of parenting and address developmental and emotional needs of children and young people who have lived with domestic violence. The programme will also provide families with better ways of resolving conflict.
What are its aims?
• To raise awareness of domestic abuse and how it may have affected parenting.
• To offer an opportunity to repair and nurture attachments within families where there has been domestic abuse.
• To develop emotional understanding of the behaviour of children and young people.
• To develop parenting techniques that promote healthy and non-violent relationships.
• To help families to resolve conflict in a non threatening and collaborative way.
